Helleborus x sahinii 'Winterbells' is one of the most unique hybrids in the history of the hellebore world. It is the first ever successful cross of christmas rose H. niger and the distantly related bearsfoot H. foetidus. It has dark green, hand-like, lenten rose foliage topped, starting in winter, with cinnamon flower stalks ending in pendent flowers with creamy pink backs and green inside. 'Winter Bells' will never go down as being the most stunning hellebore, but it is unquestionably the most unique. Since the original cross was so wide there is no chance for offspring from seed.
